Lord Tordoff

Geoff Tordoff was born on 11 October 1928, son of the late Stanley Acomb Tordoff. He was educated at Manchester Grammar School and Manchester University. In 1953 he married Mary Patricia Swarbrick and has two sons and three daughters. His career was in Shell from 1950 - 1983 as a Marketing Executive, Shell Chemicals, and then Public Affairs Manager (Chemicals), Shell UK. He was Hon. President British Youth Council 1986 - 92, Chair, Middle East Committee, Refugee Council1990 - 94; Member, Press Complaints Commission 1995 - 2002. In the House of Lords, he was Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees 1994 - 2001; Deputy Speaker 1994 -; Chairman of Committees 2001 - 02; Deputy Chair of Committees 2002 -; Liberal Democrat Deputy Whip 1983 - 84; Liberal Democrat Chief Whip 1984 - 94. In 1983 - 84 he was President of the Liberal Party and stood for Northwich in 1964 and for Knutsford in 1966 and 1970.
