James Robert Fearnley was selected by the local members as Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Croydon Central in May 2014. He has lived in London for ten years and has experience campaigning across the country.
James graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a first class degree in history, holds a law degree from Nottingham Law School and has undertaken a course in public policy leadership at John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
His professional background is as a communications consultant advising some of the most prominent UK and international companies on corporate and financial communications. Previously, James qualified as a solicitor at an international law firm. He enjoys tutoring disadvantaged pupils through three social mobility projects and is a school governor at a south London academy.
James is passionate about ensuring individuals have the best chance to achieve their potential and building a liberal Britain with opportunity for all. Commenting on his selection, James said: “I am a great believer that everybody should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of where they are born or the size of their parents’ bank account. Education, along with housing and transport, will be top of my agenda during the campaign in Croydon Central.”
