Commuters deserve reward for putting up with poor service not network rail boss - Paddick
29 February 2008

Liberal Democrat Mayoral candidate, Brian Paddick, has condemned the awarding of a Knighthood to the Chair of Network Rail, Ian McAllister, on the same day the company was fined £14m for engineering work overruns.

Brian Paddick, said:

"It is London’s commuters who deserve a knighthood for putting up with the cattle class travel conditions they experience day-in, day-out, not Newtork Rail's boss.

"It is wholly unacceptable that someone who has overseen such a catastrophic performance this year should be rewarded for his failure. Passengers will be the ones picking up the tab for the £14m fine through increased fare rises: this is worthy of a resignation, not a knighthood."
