Public vote shows support for Lords reform
13 March 2007

Lord Teverson

The Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords today encouraged people to give their views on the future of the Upper House, by placing a ballot in a ballot box outside Parliament.

The public's response was overwhelmingly in favour of democratic reform.

Commenting, Liberal Democrat Peer Lord Teverson said:

"It was good to see so many members of the public voting in our ballot outside the House of Lords today.

"The result showed a large majority for a fully elected House. We hope there will be a big response on our website while the debate continues on this very important subject."
