"It is clear that even in these difficult times, profligacy at the top of the public sector lives on," said the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor.
Commenting on the Public Sector rich list released by the Tax Payers’ Alliance today, Vince Cable said:
“With 806 public sector employees taking home more than £180m a year between them, it is clear that even in these difficult times, profligacy at the top of the public sector lives on.
“After more than a year in recession this country can ill afford fat cat levels of public sector pay.
“As we tackle the structural deficit there will have to be serious public sector pay restraint. This must be focussed most severely on those at the top.”
