Select Committee’s report on gambling published

The Government is today calling for evidence on any link between problem gambling and B2 machines (sometimes referred to as fixed odds betting terminals, or FOBTs) as part of a consultation it has launched to review the maximum stake and prize limits for gaming machines.

Commenting, John Leech said:

“Problem gambling can do a huge amount of damage to people’s lives, and people are rightly concerned about the new, highly addictive betting machines that are appearing like a rash all over our High Streets.
 
“Liberal Democrats have ensured there is no question of raising the £100 stake.  It is right and fair that the coalition government are instead asking whether the maximum amount people can play on these machines should be reduced.”
