Nick has been the Leader of the Liberal Democrats since 2007 and was Deputy Prime Minister between 2010 and March 2015.
In 1999, Nick Clegg was elected Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands - the first liberal Parliamentarian in the whole region since the 1930s. As an MEP, he worked towards calls for reforms to expenses, transparency and accountability in the European Parliament.
As Deputy Prime Minister, Nick kept key issues on the agenda in the coalition government. These include the creation of 2 million jobs, improving the environment and delivering an £825 tax cut for millions of people.
