BIOGRAPHY
Carol grew up and went to school in Durham. Her father
worked at the University of Durham and Carol now has a small holiday cottage
business in the city.
Carol studied Zoology at the University of Hull,
and then spent over 20 years working in healthcare. Carol has always been deeply
passionate about the health service and has fought hard to improve the NHS in
Durham.
Carol moved to Sherburn Village in 1992 and was elected to the Parish Council and the City Council in 2003. Carol is currently Deputy Leader of Durham City Council and has led the fight against the Government’s decision to impose a Unitary Authority on the area.
Carol has represented the Liberal Democrats at the last two General Elections. In 2005 she gained one of the biggest swings in the country to greatly reduce the Labour majority.
Carol is a keen animal lover. She enjoys gardening and reading modern fiction, as well as swimming and socialising.
