BIOGRAPHY

Sarah Carr, aged 33, is an enthusiastic and experienced Liberal Democrat campaigner. Sarah has devised numerous winning Liberal Democrat campaign strategies and has worked on many Liberal Democrat by-election victories. Sarah was the successful Agent, Constituency Organiser and Campaign Manager for Hereford Liberal Democrats from 1996 ensuring the first-time election of candidate Paul Keetch MP in 1997.

Following Hereford Liberal Democrats victory in 1997, Sarah became the Senior Researcher in the Liberal Democrat Whips’ Office in the House of Lords where she advised the Liberal Democrat peers on legislation such as the Competition, Access to Justice and Asylum Acts. Since 1999 Sarah has worked in industry providing public and regulatory affairs advice. Sarah has gained significant business experience including advising senior management and acting as a company spokeswoman on numerous business and trade associations including being a regional CBI Council member.

Sarah was born in Shropshire. Her mum was a travelling farm secretary in South Shropshire in the 60’s. As a result of being brought up in the countryside, Sarah has a thorough understanding of rural issues and those of the farming community. Sarah’s first word was ‘tractor’! At University Sarah read Politics gaining an Upper Second with Honours. Sarah is motivated by challenging social injustice believing in freedom and opportunity combined with responsible citizenship.

Sarah hopes that she can inspire people to fulfil their full potential.Sarah met her husband Shaun when they were both working in Parliament. They have one daughter.Sarah enjoys socialising with a wide circle of friends, relaxes reading novels and tries to keep fit by swimming. Sarah is a member of the National Trust, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and is a supporter of Action Aid. Sarah is also a member of Women Liberal Democrats and the Liberal Democrat Business Forum.
