Taming the Tech Titans: Vince Cable on levelling the digital playing field

In a speech at the heart of London's flourishing tech sector, leader of the Liberal Democrats Vince Cable will set out his vision for a 21st century economy in which technology empowers citizens, encourages innovation and engenders entrepreneurship.

He will tackle head on the challenges to this vision posed by the growing concentration of power among a few global tech giants - including Google, Facebook, Amazon, Uber and Apple - through their tax avoidance, data sharing practices and market dominance.

Cable will put forward radical Liberal Democrat proposals to level the playing field for the state, consumers and entrepreneurs.

The session will be chaired by journalist and commentator Mike Butcher, 'Editor At Large' of leading tech news site TechCrunch, and named among the Top 50 most influential Britons in technology by The Daily Telegraph.

Registration for the event will take place from 10:30am onwards. The speech will begin promptly at 11am, and will be followed by a Q&A session. Refreshments will be served.

This event is hosted in partnership with the Liberal Democrat Business and Entrepreneurs' Network (LDBEN). For more information on LDBEN, visit
