Andrew has lived in Flintshire, North Wales since 1994 and knows well the challenges and opportunities faced by individuals, families and the local communities.
In his professional life, Andrew qualified as a Chartered Insurance Risk Manager and has worked as an Underwriter and Risk Manager with particular focus on anti-bribery & corruption and conflicts of interest. Andrew says that his many years of business experience has taught him the importance of good governance and a well-run economy to enable businesses to flourish which in turn can provide well paid, high skilled jobs.
Andrew has been elected President of both the Stratford on Avon and Liverpool Insurance Institutes. He has also served at national level in The Chartered Insurance Institute, representing the interests of the local insurance communities in North Wales, the North West of England and the Isle of Man. Andrew was awarded an Exceptional Service Award by the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2017 in recognition of his work carried out voluntarily over many years to raise professional standards.
Being passionate about the importance of a vibrant and caring local community that supports the well-being of individuals through all stages of their lives Andrew has been a trustee or officer of a range of voluntary community organisations such as Cilcain Show, Ysgol Y Foel PTA and Gŵyl Cilcain.
Andrew is also an author who has had numerous articles published in the national press on a range of topics such as drugs and crime, climate change, genetic testing, stress, finance and capital, piracy, asbestos and risk management.
Andrew is an active campaigner and has served the local Lib Dem party in Flintshire in various capacities including being elected Chairman.
He is married to Natasha and has five children, all of whom have attended and prospered in the local state schools.
