Liberal Democrats

Angie Curwen

North Thanet

Prior to moving to Thanet Angie worked as a Sales Account Manager for an IT company counting household names in the financial world in the City of London amongst her client base.  Angie has lived in Birchington in Thanet for 30 years, working at Pfizer in the Drug Safety Department and latterly at Quex Park as Assistant to the Estate Manager.  Angie has also run her own business and understands all aspects of business management from human resources to financial management to sales and marketing.

She has a particular interest in Mental Health, Lifelong Education and Community Housing and works individually and collectively to improve access to these.  She is currently studying for additional qualifications in Mental Health support.

She has been involved in politics since 2016 when she joined the Liberal Democrats owing to her concern at increases in hate speech and disconnection between sections of the community in the UK.

She passionately believes in an open and tolerant society where everyone accepts our differences and that everyone can live life as they wish so long as it doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.  She also wants to help create a society that provides equal opportunities for all and values every child whatever their skills not just for their academic ability.

Angie volunteers in several roles supporting people with their mental health, education and homelessness.  If elected she would campaign for a halt to the downgrading of QEQM Hospital, increased funding for our schools, for a program of building social housing to eliminate the housing waiting list in Thanet and for a cohesive green transport policy to reduce air pollution, build proper cycle paths and improve public transport links.
