Communications Officer (Wales)

Responsible to:       Chief Executive of the Welsh Liberal Democrats

Salary:                    £27,500 pro rata (1.5 days per week). Please see also a similar role (3.5 days per week) currently being advertised by Jane Dodds MS

Tenure:                   Fixed term to May 2022 with the potential for renewal by mutual agreement

Hours:                    13.5 hours per week

Location:                Cardiff

Purpose of job

The Welsh Liberal Democrats are looking for someone who can build and maintain the profile of the Party, by helping produce positive coverage in Welsh print, broadcast and online.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about being part of the next stage of building the Welsh Liberal Democrats, have a great sense of what makes a good story, how to successfully secure media coverage and how to turn this into digital content.

Information Asset Owners (IAOs), Directors and Heads of teams

  • Take responsibility for understanding and complying with the Liberal Democrat’s approach to data protection by completing regular Data Protection and UK GDPR training and adhering to policies and guidance which improve knowledge and promote best practice.
  • Responsible for specific information assets and assessing and mitigating risks to information within the area you manage. This involves ensuring the security, accuracy and integrity of the data held on the systems you manage and for mitigating any potential risks. 
  • Raise awareness of data protection issues and ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities towards the information they use.
