Dan Gallagher has lived in this constituency for many years with his wife and two children. For the past 30 years, he has helped run his family business, a housing company that has provided over 10,000 homes across the South East. He has significant experience of working with local government and has a deep understanding of the challenges of providing good quality housing and environmental services within the community. Dan has been involved with a number of environmental, educational and social projects and has built hundreds of social homes. He is proud to have helped establish a company employing a diverse workforce to develop high quality housing for all.
As a long-time member of the Liberal Democrats, Dan has campaigned as a volunteer in many elections since the 1980s. He joined the party because he has always believed that Liberal Democrats represent an inclusive, forward looking party, who seek to build a stronger and cohesive society for all, regardless of race, class, or gender; a party which represents the whole community, not merely the interests of big business or big unions.
Dan cares deeply for education provision. He has first hand knowledge of how children with special educational needs are inadequately supported with insufficient provision to help the most vulnerable young people in our community. Dan wants to see a government that works with businesses to generate wealth that can be invested wisely to improve the key structures of our society. To provide support, security and prosperity for all.
Dan says, "In life I've have been lucky enough to come from a stable and advantaged background, giving me the opportunity to give back to society. I want to use my skills and knowledge, within government, to achieve better outcomes for people. I care about others in society especially the disadvantaged and the dismissed. I care about meeting the environmental challenges that we as a country have to face in the coming decade.”
