Darren Fower

North East Cambridgeshire

Darren has lived in Cambridgeshire all his life, and has been an active campaigner and Liberal Democrat for nearly 20 years. He has a degree in Politics, his favourite philosopher is Jean-Jacques Rousseau and his star sign is Scorpio!

During his years in politics in Cambridgeshire, he has held the position of Chairman, Vice Chair and Press Officer, for the local Executive. He has been Group Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council group and remains a city Councillor, having been elected in 2004, and successfully defended his position at 4 elections.

He has many friends who live in areas like Wisbech, March, Whittlesey, Chatteris, Littleport and the surrounding villages, so he was honoured to be asked to stand as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for North East Cambridgeshire.

The present Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire, has been in his position for 2555+ days, he’s received OVER £325,000 in pay, and claimed £693,777 in expenses, between 2010/11 and 2014/15 alone!

Yet, the people tell Darren of all sorts of issues, concerns and problems that STILL haven't been addressed?

People who vote for Darren, will be voting for an open-hearted, open-minded, forward-looking, modern, green, internationalist and pro-European.

Someone who believes in the need for the local economy to be creative, innovative and outward-looking, comfortable in the fast-changing modern world and open to the opportunities and challenges of globalisation and the digital revolution.

When elected, he will ensure that he reports back to residents on a weekly basis, undertake annual resident surveys, hold constituency surgeries throughout the area, aim to employ local people in his office and use his extensive salary to support financially a range of community groups and charities.

Darren says "I also give my word that I’ll fight injustice and stand up for the underdog, the outsider, the individual, the minority and the vulnerable against the powerful."
