Born and raised in Gateshead, like many people from the North East in the 1980’s and 90’s Dawn had to leave her home town for a number of years to begin her career. Having lived and worked around the UK, she then returned to contribute to the growth and development of the local economy and raise her family in a region she is passionate about.
She has spent over 25 years working within the construction, energy and renewables sectors and is currently a Director of a North East based start-up company; developing the integration of renewable energy with transport infrastructure to aid the clean energy transition to electric vehicles. Acutely aware of the everyday struggles the people of the North East have faced for decades, as she has faced them herself, Dawn wants to be part of the solution. She wants to see the North East once again take the lead in the technical and engineering innovation which made the region world beaters to create a vibrant regional economy, quality well paid jobs and a better, cleaner, healthier future for our next generation.
Dawn has a young family and was actively involved in community organisations for pre-school children for many years, most recently campaigning to save a local pre-school facility. Her desire to create a better region for all our children is why she became involved in politics, she is first and foremost a Northern Mam and she believes she can make a difference, so she will.
