Hello and thank you for looking me up on the Liberal Democrats website.
Why am I standing? Quite simply this will be the most important election of all our lives and I want to be your representative in Parliament as we not only deal with Brexit, but the far more important issue of the Climate Emergency and humankind’s future, along with all life on this precious planet.
I am the current Wiltshire Councillor for Box and Colerne and I wrote the Climate Emergency motion and persuaded Wiltshire Councillors to vote to acknowledge the Climate Emergency earlier this year. I also argued for and had passed my motion on scaling up ‘Shared Lives’ the adults social care programme, which offers a win win for the county, improving the lives of clients, providing a living for carers, and helping to address the massive black hole in local authority finances that the our aging population is bringing.
My background is as a trained agricultural engineer, and aid worker. I have worked for three decades with charities including WaterAid, Care, Tearfund, World Vision, and governments including our own with DFID and the EU, across the developing world on programmes to bring safe water, sanitation and hygiene to the poor while addressing ways in which they can cope with climate change.
The challenge is real the time is now. At home and abroad we need a Liberal Democrat Government.
