Northern Regions Consultation Towards a Federal England
Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 07:00 PM
The Liberal Democrats have supported the creation of a Federal United Kingdom since our inception in 1998, as did the Liberal Party and SDP before us. However, as the cries for Scottish independence grow louder, and we move closer to a constitutional convention for the UK, there needs to be a Liberal Democrat policy for federalism in England.
This is an opportunity for members to have your say in the development of our policy.
- Should there be one northern region, three or more?
- How should we address matters for the whole of England?
- How to we protect local councils and regional governments in a Federal Constitution?
The meeting will be online on Zoom, registrations will be first come first served.

Scotland- What Next?
Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 06:30 PM
Westminster & City of London Liberal Democrats in partnership with The Liberal Democrats Business & Entrepreneurs Network are delighted to announce that:
Alistair Carmichael, Liberal Democrat MP for Orkney and Shetland
and
Ken Symon, Editor of Scottish Business Insider
will be in conversation with us at our May zoom meet up
Scotland – What Next?
Alistair was Secretary of State for Scotland during the last Scottish Independence referendum and so has a deep understanding of both sides of the Scottish independence argument. Ken Symon is one of Scotland's best known journalists with a long and highly respected career
Given the prominence of the Independence question in particular this should be a fascinating discussion. We will leave the zoom open after our speakers finish, for members who would like to continue chatting.Don't forget to RSVP below and a link for the zoom will be sent to you on the morning of the event.
