Brecon and Radnorshire - Polling Week

Come to Brecon and Radnorshire for the final push to elect a new Lib Dem MP!

Jane Dodds, Welsh Lib Dem leader, is standing in a by-election to replace Chris Davies, ousted for submitting false claims for expenses. We have a real shot at winning this seat - but we need all the help we can get!

There'll be plenty to do, from door-knocking to data entry, and it's a great chance to meet and socialise with other Liberal Democrats and spend some time in a stunning part of the country. ☀

We have offices in Brecon and Llandrindod Wells - to find them and plan your journey, just click the button below.

Coming from afar? Why not make a weekend of it? Email brecon.accommodation@libdems.org.uk and we'll get you set up.

    Business Day London

This year, Business Day will be held in London

In the past, Business Day has been held at Autumn Conference. But this year, we're going to be holding Business Day in London in the week before Conference, on Thursday 12 September.

Hosted by Canary Wharf Group, this year's Business Day will form a key part of the conversation prior to Conference. It will feature the new Party Leader's first major speech to a business audience, alongside contributions from leading figures in business, politics, journalism, and academia.

The talks and discussion at Business Day will provide attendees with unique insights into how today's political developments can shape the business world. The impact of Brexit and the Liberal Democrats' role in that debate will, of course, feature.

Business Day will also include a keynote speech from Siobhan Benita, the Liberal Democrat Mayoral Candidate for 2020, as well as Chuka Umunna MP, our new Treasury and Business Spokesperson, 'in conversation' on the Party's approach to business.

    Key events at Business Day:

    • Networking breakfast
    • Keynote speech from the new Leader of the Liberal Democrats
    • Keynote speech from London Mayoral Candidate Siobhan Benita
    • Briefing and panel discussion on the upcoming Conference season and how it relates to business concerns

We are offering Business Day as an alternative to the traditional Party Conference Corporate Day. Discounted tickets can be purchased by LDBEN members, Lib Dems in Business members, and NLC Business Forum members.

We are still offering a Business Lunch at our Autumn Conference. This will take place on Monday 16 September, hosted by BVCA. Further information and the option to purchase tickets can be found here.

For further information about our business events at Conference please email ldben@libdems.org.uk.

Be part of the conversation. Come to Conference.

Please note that all Business Day event tickets are non-refundable. If you are no longer able to attend you may apply to transfer your ticket to another guest.

    Business Lunch at Autumn Conference

Business Lunch: Autumn Conference, Monday 16th September 2019

Our annual Business Lunch will take place at Autumn Conference in Bournemouth, and this year is kindly sponsored by BVCA (British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association). The lunch is a fantastic opportunity for senior businesspeople, entrepreneurs, representatives of the local business community and senior Liberal Democrats to come together to network, discuss the most pressing political issues facing business in 2019, and hear from guest speakers.

As an essential part of our policy-making process, Conference is an invaluable opportunity to add your voice to the debate.

We are witnessing an extraordinary period of volatility and uncertainty in British politics right now. Undoubtedly, the Brexit being negotiated by Theresa May and her Conservative Government is putting the bright future of UK businesses at risk.

The Liberal Democrats are the only major political party with a clear position on Brexit, who can develop radical solutions to the domestic crises that the Conservatives are not dealing with. This includes putting a penny in the pound on income tax to properly fund our NHS, and creating a new deal for a younger generation locked out of the housing market, which would enable local and national government to build houses using compulsory purchase powers and publicly owned land.

Join us to discuss these issues and the Liberal Democrats’ key role in the next stage of progressive politics. We hope you’ll be part of the conversation. You can purchase tickets at the bottom of this page.

Business Day: London, Thursday 12th September 2019

In the past, Business Day has been held during Autumn Conference. But this year, we’re holding Business Day in London the week before Conference, on Thursday 12th September 2019.

Holding Business Day in London ensures our events are as accessible as possible to businesses from across the country, not just to those in the South near Bournemouth. It means we can run a larger event, with more businesses, more councillors and more parliamentarians, giving you a better opportunity to network and get your business’s concerns and priorities in front of people who can effect change.

Although we won’t know about the future of the UK’s relationship with the European Union, we’re certain that business leaders deserve to be heard about the business policies which have been neglected by this Government, policies such as the rise in artificial intelligence, SMEs, and issues surrounding cyber-security.

Please click here if you would like to purchase a ticket to Business Day in London on Thursday 12th September. By purchasing a Business Pass, you will have the opportunity to attend a range of business-oriented events.

If you have any questions please contact Joanne Rozeik on 020 7227 1350.

For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Joanne Rozeik via email or on 020 7227 1350.

Be Part of the Conversation. Come to Conference.

Please note that all Business Day event tickets are non-refundable. If you are no longer able to attend you may apply to transfer your ticket to another guest if that person is also registered for a valid Commercial Observer conference pass.
