Liberal Democrats

Helen Cross

London - 6

Helen is a businesswoman who has built a successful career in technology and the digital economy. Having started out in Newcastle Upon Tyne, born in her local NHS hospital, going through the comprehensive school system and then to university, Helen wants to ensure that everybody has the same opportunity to achieve the life they want.

Helen was prompted into action in 2016 by the explosion of illiberal discourse around the Brexit referendum and the election of Trump. Helen was drawn to the Liberal Democrats’ strong position on tolerance and social justice.

Helen wants to give a voice to the many people in her area who want to stop Brexit. Helen has a practical mindset, focused on getting things done. She is committed to improving our public services. She wants a life long education system that can adapt to major skill shifts and secure good jobs in the global economy and to protect our NHS.

She also wants to see the UK drive growth and jobs by being at the leading edge of global technological advances. She wants to equip London and Europe to embrace the opportunities of new technology like robotics, whilst protecting vital rights around data and privacy.

Helen takes the threat of climate change and the impact on our ecosystem seriously. She is a strong advocate for renewable energy and ensuring bio-diversity and accessible natural spaces from urban gardens to our countryside and sea.

Having moved to London in 2001, Helen lives in Chiswick with her partner Leigh.
