Isobel has been a Liberal Democrat Local Councillor in Ellon and District since 2007 and has held senior roles within the Council. She is a dedicated local campaigner making sure that local voices are heard and that people are properly represented.
Isobel has a BSc. Hons in Biology from Aberdeen University. After a varied career, including working for an agricultural agent, as a lab technician, a water bailiff and a team leader for a youth project Isobel now carries out wildlife surveys, mainly bat surveys for householders and developers throughout the area. She enjoys this work and get to visit all sorts of weird and wonderful places. She lives just outside Ellon and has a daughter at University.
Isobel strongly believes that we should have a fair free and open Britain with equality being a priority. We should all have fair access to opportunity and there should be respect and esteem for all people whatever their background or way of life.
A community activist for many years, Isobel has been involved in numerous environmental campaigns over the years. Isobel is involved in a project to protect and promote a seal colony, and another to improve facilities at a Country Park. She is on the Board of NHS Grampian and volunteers at the towns community cinema.
Isobel makes extensive use of social media to keep her constituents informed of the work of the Council, local events and as an opportunity for them to contact her with any issues they may have. This can be challenging at times but with constituents who have busy lives, traditional points of contact such as newspapers and the school gate are not so well used any more. She gets many messages from folk who are grateful for the information circulated.
Isobel attends local events as often as possible and visits businesses within the Ward to offer support. She tries to ensure that she is always available to meet, phone or email at times which suits constituents.
