Liberal Democrats

It's your time to step up

If you’re dissatisfied with the state of politics at the moment or are simply fed up of this weak and ineffective government now is your time to step up.

By Sal Brinton,

Today marks International Women’s Day a day set aside to honour and celebrate the contributions of women everywhere.

From Margaret Wintringham, the first ever female Liberal MP, to Shirley Williams one of the founders of the Liberal Democrats, Liberal women have a long and proud history of standing up and making their voices heard. Today our female MPs are challenging everything from upskirting to equal parental leave.

This week alone, our female MPs are raising the issues of the gender price gap, gender-neutral school uniforms and postnatal depression.

But there’s still much to fight for and four female Lib Dem MPs is simply not enough.

That’s where you come in.

We’re asking you to step up and stand for election. Be it council for parliament we need to see more Liberal Democrat women elected up and down the country. You don’t have to have years of political experience just a passion to change things for the better.

So, if you’re dissatisfied with the state of politics at the moment or are simply fed up of this weak and ineffective government now is your time to step up.
