The next regional training event is Solihull Motivate which will take place on Saturday 1 December at the Solihull College Blossomfield campus conference centre and we have got a packed agenda with 4 streams of training taking place throughout the day.
Once again, it is free to all West Midlands members, with free refreshments throughout the day. The building is accessible to those with disability needs.
The day includes training from ALDC on Facebook advertising, doorstep campaigns, knocking on doors and Minivan and community campaigning. We also have a special 1 day session delivering essential agent training. Both of these streams are designed to help local parties who have got local elections in May 2019.
I will be running the new member welcome session. This session is open to all members and seeks to encourage new, shy, inactive members who might want to learn more about the party before getting involved more actively. However, it will also give experienced members an opportunity to learn about the history and structure of the party and the many ways that the party reaches out to it’s members, thus this session can also be very useful to PPC’s and team leaders in the party. A policy update session will be running again thanks to Susan Juned, which is a great opportunity for PPC’s and active members to get up to scratch on policy. This precedes a candidates meeting being hosted by Ade Adeyemo, so a crucial afternoon of updates for PPC’s.
Ann Morrison will also be providing training on key skills for the party – Assistant Returning Officer training and Shortlisting Committee training. Both of these are very important to the region and we look forward to training up some more willing members.
