Jenny Blain

Dundee West

Jenny was born and raised in Dundee and educated at the High School of Dundee, Napier College and Moray House College of Education, and also at Dalhousie University in Canada. She has worked as an academic sociologist in Canada and parts of England.

Her first job was as a sub-editor at publishers DC Thomsons in Dundee. Later she taught at Lasswade High School in Midlothian before going to Canada. In Canada, Jenny was an assistant professor, teaching Sociology and Women's Studies, before returning to Britain as a senior lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, specialising in social research.

Jenny is now keen to focus on Dundee and use her experience to work for Dundee. In particular, she is passionate about issues of environment, conservation and climate change.

Outside of politics her interests include gardening, genealogy, and making music.
