Danny Alexander calls on Scottish Government to commit to extra funding for NHS

Following the announcement today by the UK Government that it is providing billions of pounds of extra funding for frontline NHS services, Liberal Democrat Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander said:

“Today’s announcement of billions of extra funding for the NHS means Scotland will benefit by approximately £125m of extra funding too in 2015/16 as a result of the Barnett formula.

"I’m calling on the Scottish Government to publicly commit to spend that extra £125M on health in Scotland, and not to allow it to be used to support general expenditure.

"Failing to invest this extra money in health would be to let down the people of Scotland."
