Louis has remained local to the constituency, being born in Leamington and living here whilst studying Civil Engineering at Coventry University and then into his career. He now works as a Structural Engineer in the area and is a District Councillor as of May.
His main priorities are: a more sustainable health and social care system with special consideration for mental health, something that has affected him and his family, combatting climate change at every level through renewable energy production, an area he has worked within, improved public transport and through ties between retail and agriculture, and in supporting fairer education, improving links into industry, especially locally. These are each impacted by Brexit which he has opposed from the outset and he supports a Peoples Vote with remain as an option.
Louis champions remaining in the EU for both economic and social reasons. Working in construction, the uncertainty the potential separation from the EU is having is impacting the industry already, as with many sectors, from material prices to staff shortages. And, as his wife is American, they have personal experience with the Home Office and the personal stresses our immigration system can cause; these stresses must now be shared by EU citizens who make up our communities, commenting, ‘these are just a tips of the iceberg when it comes to the damage Brexit will cause’.
Outside of politics he volunteers for the Guide Dogs, working with local community groups, and plays music in a local band.
