Luigi Gregori was selected as the prospective Liberal Democrat MP for North West Hampshire in October 2019. He has lived in and around the Andover area with his family for over twenty years as an Army Officer. Luigi has been actively involved in the local community and charities as well as being a school governor of a special needs school.
Luigi says: “I served for 34 years in the British Army. I saw at first hand the benefits of international cooperation. Brexit puts that cooperation in danger. I settled down in Andover and have fought to improve our local community. At this period in our country’s history, we are under threat from the forces of intolerance and narrow ideology. In all this mess, I believe that the Liberal Democrats offer a beacon of hope and positive action.”
“This is not just on Brexit where we are the only large Remain party,” Luigi stated, “but also on the other issues that plague the most vulnerable in our society. As a school governor I have to grapple with massive under funding and, as a member of Friends of the Earth, I campaign on environmental issues. On social justice, health, education and social care as on so many others, we the Liberal Democrats offer a way forward that will benefit us all as individuals and members of our communities. We also need politicians who can represent our local needs and have experience of the real world. We urgently need a change.”
Whitchurch Councillor Keith Watts welcomed the appointment: “Luigi is a strong campaigner with deeply held liberal values. He will make an excellent MP.” Tadley Councillor Warwick Lovegrove added: “Luigi has consistently championed his local residents and he delivers. As a fellow veteran he is good news for us all.”
