Mark currently represents the Cottam area of Fylde together with Ingol on Preston City Council. He lives on the west of Preston and volunteers coaching football with the Sir Tom Finney FC.
He has worked at BAE Systems for over 33 years moving to Lancashire after graduating.
He joined the Liberal Democrats in 2002, when Charles Kennedy was leader. Their stance on the Iraq War and the work of a local Councillor, Danny Gallagher, influenced him.
Mark was a Lancashire County Councillor from 2009 - 2013 representing Preston West. Mark consistently voted against fracking and believes we need to invest in other forms of sustainable energy that support meeting our carbon neutral goals. His proudest achievement as a County Councillor was to lead the campaign to get his local boxing club rebuilt.
Mark has campaigned strongly for a confirmatory peoples vote on the deal negotiated with the EU or to revoke article 50 and remain within the EU. Mark commented, "This election will provide the democratic mandate on our way forward with Brexit. I am standing to stop Brexit because there is no deal better than the arrangement we currently have with the EU. Any other deal will make us, as a nation, poorer and less influential in the world.
"On day 1 of a Liberal Democrat government we will revoke article 50 and refocus the national agenda onto tackling the climate crisis, investing in our NHS and schools and rebuilding our economy."
Mark is also calling for more government funding to support rural bus services.
