Matt Sanders

Hampstead and Kilburn

Matt Sanders is the Liberal Democrat candidate to be our next MP in Hampstead and Kilburn.
Matt first moved to Camden more than fifteen years ago and lives in Chalk Farm with his partner, Sam. He is a community activist and campaigner for social justice across Brent and Camden, and was twice elected to Camden Council to stand up for local people.

On the council, Matt supported the building of new affordable housing for local families and, as Chair of the Culture and Environment Committee, ensured the council’s actions were contributing to the fight against climate change. Matt developed a reputation as a hard working local councillor, who always defended his local community.

Growing up in the North West of England in a single parent family, Matt attended his local state comprehensive school before winning a place at university to study architecture. As an education expert, Matt has advised governments here and abroad on schools policy. He helped to deliver policies like the Pupil Premium (extra money to support the education of disadvantaged children in Hampstead and Kilburn); more early years education for local families, and free school meals for all infants. He is passionate about making sure that every child has a fair start in life.
Today, Matt works for a company that helps young entrepreneurs set up and run their own businesses.

Matt is proud to be part of the diverse and vibrant community here in Hampstead and Kilburn. As our MP, Matt’s priorities will be stopping Brexit, tackling the climate emergency and securing better funding for our local services. Matt will be a Remain MP in a Remain Party.
