Dr. Richard Brighton-Knight is proud to represent the great, friendly and loyal people of Nuneaton, Hartshill and Arley as the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate at the General Election.
Richard cares deeply for our health and wellbeing. As a doctor and qualified medical public consultant, he has campaigned on a wider range of public health issues developing national Liberal Democrat health policy. Our local public services are a key priority for Richard who will fight to protect the George Eliot A&E from further austerity measures being introduced by the Conservative government. Richard believes that important services, such as maternity and paediatric, should be community driven and supported to meet our local needs.
Social care in Nuneaton is under extreme pressure due to population changes and detrimental government policies which have slashed local council funds. Richard knows it is vital to have properly funded social care that can properly support those in need, and show our social care workforce that we value them.
Similarly, our local schools have been left with holes in their budgets and many forced into academy status. Richard is proud of our strong local schools and knows the future belongs to our children. He will fight to ensure every pupil is properly funded and their teachers are paid fairly and have the time to continue their professional development.
Richard will work to secure improvements and developments to our town centre that has been needed for so long. He understands the balance required between change, bringing in responsible businesses, and respecting the communities and businesses already established, which can continue to thrive with the right investment.
Richard wants a fairer society where everyone has the opportunity to learn irrespective of age, work irrespective of social status, and enjoy Nuneaton, Hartsill and Arley for the strong community it is.
