Dr. Reuven (Ruvi) Ziegler is Chair of New Europeans, award-winning pan-European organization established in 2012 to champion the rights of mobile EU citizens; and the inaugural Chair of the Oxford European Association, established by Oxford city council in July 2016 to send an inclusionary, welcoming message to the many Oxford residents born elsewhere in the EU.

He is Associate Academic Fellow of the Inner Temple; Research Associate of the Refuge Studies Centre, University of Oxford; Co-convenor of the Migration and Asylum Section of the Society of Legal Scholars; Senior Research Associate of the Refugee Law Initiative (Institute for Advance Legal Study, University of London) and Editor-in-Chief of its Working Paper Series. Previously, Ruvi was a visiting researcher at Harvard Law School’s Immigration and Refugee Clinic and its Human Rights Program; and Tutor in Public International Law at Oxford.

Ruvi has contributed to parliamentary proceedings in the UK (through the All-Parliamentary Party Group on Freedom of Movement and through submissions to the House of Lords’ EU (justice) sub-committee) and the European Parliament.

As an internationalist at heart and as a human rights advocate, Ruvi is passionate about protecting our place in the EU, defending the rights of EU27 citizens, and advancing civil liberties of individuals across Europe. As Council member of the Lib Dems for Seekers of Sanctuary, he contributed to the party's progressive and compassionate asylum policy.

Ruvi is proud of the Lib Dem parliamentarians’ record in securing LGBT+ rights across the EU and, as a member of this community, will be its strong advocate in the European Parliament.
