Ryan lives locally in Southfields area of the Putney constituency. He has worked for a number of organisations developing policy to improve education, especially in the Sciences.
His priority is fighting for Britain’s place in the European Union. He says “The Conservatives and Labour have all lined up behind Nigel Farage’s vision for a hard Brexit. Only the Liberal Democrats can represent people who care about Britain’s future in Europe.”
Ryan campaigns locally on issues of importance to Putney, Southfields and Roehampton, such as shortages of beds in south-west London hospitals and a funding crisis for local schools. Nationally, he has campaigned on youth issues, particularly around unpaid internships, housing and mental health, helping to secure commitments on these issues in the last Lib Dem manifesto.
Ryan decided to become a candidate for the Liberal Democrats following the 2016 European referendum, as he believes there has never been a greater need for a liberal voice in politics. He says “I’m delighted to be standing for the Liberal Democrats here in Putney, fighting for an open, tolerant and united Britain.”
