Liberal Democrats

Maidenhead LibDems with Liz Leffman

Apologies, but this event has been cancelled due to the snap election. We will post details of more events soon.

We’ve very pleased to have been able to get Liz Leffman to speak in Maidenhead in May, so please put the date in your diary. All welcome from Maidenhead or other LibDem groups.

The event will be on Thursday 18th May 2017 at 19.45 for 20.00 at the Furze Platt Memorial Hall, Furze Platt Road Maidenhead SL6 7NG.

For those who do not know Liz, she stood against David Cameron in 2005, coming second and beating the previous Lib Dem vote in the constituency. She stood again after he resigned, achieving the biggest swing to the Lib Dems in two decades and starting the revival in Lib Dem electoral fortunes. Subsequently Sarah Olney won the Richmond Parliamentary by-election and local council by-elections from Cornwall to Sunderland have provided a string of victories to Lib Dem candidates.

Liz has a strong business background, reflecting the Lib Dems aim to be the party that fills a vacuum by representing the needs of small businesses that are so important to the future of our economy. She is a councillor and has also campaigned on her local NHS hospital, which paid off when it was rebuilt.
