Debates on policy and business motions are at the heart of federal conference. It is through them that the party sets its policy and future direction. Unlike the conference of the other parties, Liberal Democrat conference is sovereign, and what it decides really matters.
Ordinary members can submit items here for debate at party conference. The final decision about the contents of the agenda is made by the democratically-elected Federal Conference Committee.
It is recommended that members seek drafting advice before submitting a motion. The deadline for drafting advice is 1pm on Wednesday 13 June 2018.
The motions deadline for Autumn Conference is 1pm on Wednesday 27 June 2018.
