Complaints - Where to raise your concerns?

Information on this page is aimed at helping you navigate the various routes you can use to raise concerns

If you are thinking of raising a Complaint, this page contains important information for you to consider and navigate the various processes. In some circumstances your concerns may be more appropriately addressed via another Party body and this page contains links to the rules and procedures of multiple Party bodies for you to refer to before submitting a Complaint.

Federal Complaints Process

The Federal Complaints Process adjudicates internal disputes against members of the Party. Its jurisdiction is set out under Article 23 of the Federal Party Constitution. The rules for the Federal Complaints Process are set out in the Complaints Procedure documents which are available in the section "Complaints Procedures - Full Document" below

Federal Appeals Panel

The Federal Appeals Panel adjudicates internal disputes regarding the Constitution(s). Its rulings are final and binding. Its jurisdiction is set out under Article 22.3 of the Federal Party Constitution.

English Appeals Panel

The English Appeals Panel adjudicates internal disputes regarding the English Constitution. Its rulings are final and binding. You can view a copy of the English Party Constitution here.

Complaints Procedures - Full Documents

The links below will allow you to view and download each version of the Complaints Procedures. Each document has been dated with the time period in which each version of the Complaints Procedures was active. Before submitting your Complaint, you can find useful guidance on how to prepare your submission here

All Complaints are dealt with based on the date the Complaint was received and will continue through that Complaints Process to its conclusion.

For example, if your Complaint was received on the 25th of July 2022, it would be handled in line with the Complaints Procedures dated 13th March 2022 - 31st July 2022 even if the Complaint didn't conclude until after the 1st of August 2022. This also includes any appeal process.

To provide feedback on the Complaints Process and suggest improvements, please email the Disciplinary Sub-Group (DSG) of the Federal Board at: dsg@libdems.org.uk

Please do not include details of any individuals or specific Complaints as the DSG are unable to intervene with any Complaint.
