The Liberal Democrats are proud to be Britain's most internationalist party.
The Liberal Democrats are the only party that is fighting to give the people the final say on Brexit with the opportunity to stay in the European Union. We are committed to the preservation and promotion of Britain's place in Europe and the wider world. Through the work of the International Office, we are active at European level and beyond as we strive to cultivate strong and supportive relationships with our sister liberal parties around the world.
The International Office currently coordinate the work of the Africa Liberal Network (ALN), whose secretariat is based in Cape Town, South Africa. We work to promote the engagement of women and youth in the political process, and to strengthen parties, not just at the state level, but also at the regional and local levels.
The Liberal Democrat International Office also coordinates the international relations of the party through membership of Liberal International, a worldwide federation of liberal parties, and also the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) party, a European network of liberal parties.
Previously, the International Office has coordinated projects with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) to promote democracy in transitional states in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and in Asia.
