GP guarantee

Ed Davey and the Liberal Democrats are calling for urgent action to make sure people can see their GP within a week, or within 24 hours if in urgent need.

Every month, millions of people are waiting more than two weeks for a GP appointment. The picture is getting worse and worse, with two surgeries closing each week. The previous Conservative Government ran our health service into the ground, but Labour aren’t doing enough to turn things around.

Behind these statistics are so many people and families anxiously waiting for an appointment for worrying symptoms. Doctors are working as hard as they can but they’ve been let down by the Conservatives. Patients are paying the price.

The Lib Dem plan would guarantee people can see a doctor quickly. And we’d introduce a new 24/7 hotline so people could book a GP appointment anytime.
