Marie Goldman
MP for Chelmsford
Women and Equalities Spokesperson
Marie Goldman is the Liberal Democrat Women and Equalities Spokesperson. She is standing up for fairness, equal rights, and opportunities for all. Marie is committed to challenging discrimination and making sure every voice is heard – both in Chelmsford and across the country.
For over twenty years, Marie has called Chelmsford home – raising her children here and running a small business with her husband.
Her passion for politics began with a desire to make Chelmsford an even better place to live. Marie has led key local projects, such as the theatre refurbishment and increasing Council support for small local businesses.
She has fought for improved GP services, recognising how vital they are to Chelmsford residents. Thanks to her efforts working with colleagues, Lib Dem-led Chelmsford City Council has invested in much-needed facilities like Sutherland Lodge surgery and has allocated land for a new surgery in the new west Chelmsford development.
Marie has championed the need for affordable local housing – she understands how difficult it is for everyone to buy or rent the home they need and can afford. This has been made even worse by the cost-of-living crisis. Marie has worked to get more affordable housing for our city, including new social-rent housing in places like Woodhall Road.
Concerned about children’s wellbeing, Marie has also fought for better health services for young people. She is pushing to extend free school meals and strengthen mental health support in schools. She backs the Lib Dem plan to put a mental health professional in every school and ensure children never go hungry.
