Abramovich must face end of year deadline for legal proceedings

Responding to the Prime Minister's announcement of legal proceedings to unlock the Abramovich funds for Ukraine, Calum Miller MP, Liberal Democrat Foreign Affairs spokesperson, said: 

"The Liberal Democrats called for the Abramovich funds to be delivered urgently to Ukraine over a year ago. It’s good to see the Government listening to us and bringing more pressure to bear, but it should never have taken this long.

"This money should have helped suffering civilians across Ukraine much sooner. And more could have been done to identify and recover the 20,000 children stolen by Russia with these funds.

"The Government now needs to put its money where its mouth is on this. The Prime Minister must set a deadline of the end of the year for beginning legal action against Abramovich if he doesn’t comply - and tell us whether there are grounds for any criminal proceedings against Abramovich if he continues to stall."
