SEND: Vulnerable children need a proper plan, not soundbites
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Responding to Reform UK’s plan to reform special educational needs schools, looking specifically at the £400m profits made annually by private equity companies in SEND provision, Liberal Democrat Education Spokesperson Munira Wilson MP said:
“It is good to see Reform have seen sense and agree with our campaign to crack down on the scandalous profits private equity firms are draining from the special educational needs system. We have long called for a profit cap on the sector and an end to this price gouging.
“However, Richard Tice and his party will be judged on their record of delivery in local government. Vulnerable children need our support and a proper plan, not soundbites from a man who has said SEND provision is being 'hijacked by parents who are abusing the system'."
