Conservative economic plans shows “Trussonomics is still in full swing”

5 Oct 2025

EMBARGO: 2230 Sunday 5th October 2025

Responding to the Shadow Chancellor unveiling plans to make £47 billion worth of cuts to public spending, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson, Daisy Cooper MP said:

“It’s clear the Conservative party learnt absolutely nothing from their disastrous handling of the economy, which left families struggling with a cost of living crisis and public services on their knees.

“Cutting vital support to bring household bills down, trying to balance the books on the backs of people with mental health conditions, and slashing the UK’s soft power abroad through aid budget cuts shows Trussonomics is still in full swing.

“We Liberal Democrats are the only party setting out ways to grow our economy, including by ripping up the Brexit red tape holding back British businesses, which would raise valuable revenue to get our public services back on their feet.

"The Conservatives have run out of ideas, and they're running out of road."
