Council funding: Govt “doomed to fail” if they do not address social care crisis

Responding to the Government’s statement on the fair funding review 2.0, Liberal Democrat Local Government Spokesperson, Zöe Franklin MP said:

"The Government can talk about renewal but any funding settlement will be swept away by the rising tide of the social care crisis.

“The Conservatives put us in this quagmire after years of neglect of local services, and now Labour are failing to grasp the nettle of adult social care.

“Without tackling the crisis in social care, which is bankrupting councils across the country and devastating the NHS, the Government is doomed to fail. Local communities will pay the price."
