Davey calls for emergency COBRA meeting as oil prices soar

Commenting on growing concerns of rising oil prices following the war in Iran, Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:

“The Prime Minister must convene a COBRA meeting immediately to personally get a grip on the threat of brutal price shocks facing families, pensioners and businesses.

"Keir Starmer cannot stand back while Trump's illegal war causes soaring petrol prices and energy bills for British families.

“Families are living in real fear of the financial fallout from Donald Trump’s illegal war in Iran. The impact on people's pockets could be devastating if we remain unprepared.

“The Government must scrap the fuel duty hike right now and reassure families that they won't be seeing a £500 spike to their energy costs this year. Anything less would be a betrayal.”
