Digital ID scheme relaunch: The PM is trying to put lipstick on a very expensive pig

23 Oct 2025

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to Keir Starmer relaunching the Digital ID scheme, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson, Max Wilkinson MP said:

“Keir Starmer is trying to put lipstick on a very expensive pig.

“Relaunching this scheme for the second time this month won't change the fact it is intrusive, expensive and unnecessary.

“Labour’s plan is seemingly falling apart at the seams.

“The money spent on this scheme could instead go on strengthening our borders and putting more police on the street.”
