Gas price hike: Govt must convene an “emergency COBRA meeting today”

Responding to today's spike in oil and gas prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Ed Davey MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: 

"The Government is sleepwalking into an energy bill disaster this July. The 25% spike in gas prices this morning should send alarm bells ringing in Number 10.

"We need an emergency COBRA meeting today, and a plan set out to protect households from an impending £500 bombshell set to devastate family finances.

“Badenoch and Farage should apologise for cheering on this war, which is seeing our economy and living standards hammered by Trump-flation.”
