GDP stats: 0.5% growth “already in the rear view mirror” as hit from Iran war takes hold
Responding to reports that GDP grew by 0.5% in Februrary, Daisy Cooper MP, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson, said:
“These positive growth figures are already in the rear view mirror as the UK is driven into a precarious economic crisis precipitated by Trump's idiotic war in Iran.
“The road to economic recovery was always going to be a marathon after two anti-growth Labour budgets and a decade of Conservative failure. Now it seems the country was barely able to get started on its journey to economic stability.
"Trump's financial warmongering - cheered on by Reform UK and the Conservatives - will add hundreds to family bills and deepen a cost of living crisis that's already entrenched.
“That's why the Government must implement Lib Dem emergency plans to cut 12p off every litre of fuel and slash rail, bus and EV charging prices to keep Britain moving.”
