Grooming gangs inquiry: Cannot continue to be a political football

23 Oct 2025

EMBARGO: Immediate release

Responding to the crisis around the grooming gangs inquiry, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson Max Wilkinson MP said:

"This cannot continue to be a political football. Victims and survivors aren’t interested in that game.

"The Conservatives failed to launch a full national inquiry whilst in power, and now Labour must stop dragging its feet. Four months on, victims still don’t have a chair, the Terms of Reference, or anything approaching the justice they deserve.

"It’s time for this Government to pull its finger out and get this inquiry off the ground before trust is further undermined."
