JLR supply chain chaos: Starmer should meet with those affected

25 Sep 2025

EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Responding to the Government considering supporting companies in the JLR supply chain until the company resumes production, Liberal Democrat Business spokesperson Sarah Olney MP said:

“Keir Starmer uses JLR as the backdrop to any announcement he wants to make when things are going well, but now that there is trouble he is nowhere to be seen.

“Every moment the Government ‘considers support’ the likelihood of people being laid off and businesses going to the wall increases. The Prime Minister needs to meet with those affected by this ongoing crisis and then he might realise that action, not consideration, is what is needed.

“It is time the Government showed the same support at this moment of peril as they do when promoting their latest press release. That means urgently setting up a furlough scheme to reassure all those workers at risk of losing their jobs.”
