Johnson at Covid Inquiry: A desperate attempt to 'rewrite history'

11 Dec 2023

EMBARGO: IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Responding to Boris Johnson telling the Covid inquiry that lockdown parties have been mis-remembered and reports about them are “absolutely absurd," Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader and Health & Social Care spokesperson Daisy Cooper MP said:

“Boris Johnson cannot expect his apology to be taken seriously when he continues his desperate attempt to rewrite history.

"These parties were investigated by the police and Boris Johnson accepted a fine for breaking lockdown rules. It's baffling that he continues to try and deceive the country.

"Instead of making excuses, he needs to pay back the thousands of pounds of taxpayer-funded legal fees he racked up during the partygate inquiry."
