Leveson Report: The Government must explore options before taking sledgehammer to justice system

Responding to a report from Sir Brian Leveson with more than 130 recommendations to fix the justice system, Liberal Democrat Justice Spokesperson, Jess Brown-Fuller MP said:

"Our justice system is on the brink and this government has totally failed to tackle the backlog left by the Conservatives. Victims are being totally failed as court backlogs continue to rise.

"Sir Brian has laid out a number of vital efficiencies which should be explored by the government before they take a sledgehammer to our criminal justice system by removing the fundamental right to the jury trial."
